The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advised yesterday against all but essential travel to Bangkok after five grenades were fired at a sky train station in the city. A 26 year old Australian man from Melbourne was among the injured and the Australian government is also advising people to reconsider travel to Bangkok.

Reports from Bangkok state that one person was killed in the blasts and a further 75 were injured, this takes the death toll since the 10th of April to 26. Red Shirt leaders deny responsibility for the attacks.

Chances of a peaceful end to the protests are starting to seem poor. Over the last several days a new group of protesters has emerged, frustrated by the disruption to the city caused by Red Shirt protests this new group has been throwing rocks and bottles at the Red Shirts.

Army spokesman Col Sansern Kaewkamnerd said “If there is a crackdown, innocent people might get hurt.” He warned that time was running out for the protesters and said “The government will be very decisive but in the beginning of the operation there may be chaos.”
