If you are looking for a great place to visit, why not try Cape Town, Republic of South Africa. This city has a lot to do, from relaxing to extreme sports, so there is guaranteed to be something for everyone. Cape Town is the largest city by land area in South Africa and the second most highly populated, so it is not surprising that it is Africa’s most popular tourist destination. It is located on the shore of Table Bay, which is overlooked by Table Mountain, famous for its flat top.

Many people see the perfect holiday as including beaches, and thankfully Cape Town has these in abundance. Locals of the area tend to use the beaches of the Atlantic seaboard, which are gorgeous but have chilly waters. If you want more family friendly areas, head to the beaches of the False Bay, where you will find warmer waters and more gentle waves. Ideal for relaxation, any of the beaches in Cape Town will be a great place to soak up some sun.

If however you want something more action-packed, there are lots of watersports to try. These include activities such as windsurfing, kayaking and scuba diving. Diving is great along the coastline here, with many caves, reefs and even shipwrecks to explore. You can also go fishing off the Cape Point coast and even shark diving if you really want to chase adventure.

Other water-based activities in Cape Town include sailing and yachting.  These are ideal for someone who would rather see the water than actually be in it. There are scenic cruises and trips around the harbor which leave from the V&A Waterfront everyday, so if you don’t quite want to look a shark in the face, these would probably be your best bet.

There is also plenty to do on dry land, such as play a game on one of the many fantastic golf courses. There even are some places to stay in Cape Town, which are provided by the golf courses as holiday accommodation. So you can wake up in the morning and perhaps play a game before breakfast.

There are many other types of hotel rooms in Cape Town. Before travelling to this city, it is a good idea to decide which area you want to stay in. There are different options such as the Main city, the Waterfront, the City Bowl and the Atlantic Seaboard. You can find luxury 5 star hotels along the V&A Waterfront, as well as cheap hostels all around Cape Town, which are great if you are on a budget, or simply need somewhere to sleep before continuing on with your adventure.

A great idea for a day out is to visit the vineyards of Cape Town. The wine farms here are award winning and can be found in beautiful locations. Popular regions with great ‘wine routes’ are Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Wellington and Paarl. Soak up the sun in one of these lovely places, and try some great wines.

Cape Town is a great place to visit. Make sure to research which area would suit you best, and enjoy your stay!
