London Luton Airport is the fourth largest and fifth busiest in the UK, with more than ten million people travelling through every year. Monarch, EasyJet, RyanAir and Wizz all fly frequently from Luton, making it a very popular choice for those wishing to spend less on their flights. Thomson also provides charter flights to a number of package holiday destinations. All the most popular European holiday spots can be reached from Luton, along with many European capitals and a few destinations in Northern Africa and Asia. In total, just over 90 destinations can be reached. See below for a comprehensive list of these along with the serving airlines.
Getting to London Luton Airport
By Car
London Luton is 32 miles north of London in the county of Bedfordshire. It is close to the M1 and M25 motorways; programme LU2 9QT into your sat nav.
From the M1, take junction 10 to reach the airport. The approach road is clearly signed from here.
From the east and A1, take the A505 through Hitchin. The approach road is clearly signposted from here.
From the west and M25, either approach through Dunstable and follow airport signs, or leave the M25 at junction 21 and join the M1. Exit the M1 at Junction 10 where you will then see clear signs to the approach road.
For pick up and drop off, follow signs to the Mid Term Car Park. You can pick up and drop off here for free (stays of no longer than 30 minutes). It is then a free 5 minute bus journey to and from the terminal. Fees will have to be paid if you wish to drop off or pick up in the short star car park.
In terms of Luton Airport Parking, there are several pre-bookable options. Booking on line is strongly advised, as this will significantly cut down parking costs.
Meet and Greet is the most convenient parking option but also the most costly. Follow the signs to Priority Parking on the approach road and park in one of the designated bays. A valet will be waiting there to park your car for you in the Short Stay Car Park, leaving you to make the short walk to check-in. Your car will then be brought back outside the terminal for your return. Prices start at £46 per day. Save on fees by booking online.
The Short Stay Car Park is most suitable for passengers leaving their car for up to a full day. Follow the yellow signs on the approach road. The terminal building is a 5-10 minute walk from the car park, and an hour will cost £7.50. Pre-booking will cut down on costs.
The Mid Term Car Park is suitable for stays up to three days. Follow the green signs on the airport approach road. A complimentary bus runs from the car park to the terminal every 10 minutes 24 hours a day, and takes 2 minutes to reach the terminal. On return take the shuttle bus from stop number 3 outside the terminal building back to the Mid Term Car Park. A full day costs £18.80, but prices can be significantly reduced by pre-booking. Pick up and drop off parking is free here for up to thirty minutes.
The Long Term Car Park is suitable for stays of anything beyond three days, and is the most economic parking option. Follow the pink signs on the airport approach road. A complimentary bus runs every 10 minutes 24 hours a day, and takes 10 minutes to reach the terminal. On return, head to bus stop 2 outside the terminal where a shuttle will take you back to the Long Stay Car Park. The daily rate is £14.50, but note that 3 days is the minimum stay. Prices can be significantly reduced by booking online.
