There are few ways to see a country that are more pleasant and relaxing than by boat. From the ocean going luxury of a 5 star cruise to a coast hugging catamaran, from a Baltic Sea passenger ferry to an Egyptian felucca ride down the Nile, each has its own charms and enticements.
When looking at boat travel we separate it into two main categories; sailing for pleasure and point to point journeys. Of course there are many grey areas. A pleasure cruise can be used as part of a larger itinerary to get from A to B, and of course ferry journeys of all sorts can be pleasurable!
In this section we focus primarily on sailing purely for the pleasure of it, and general information about ferry travel within particular regions and countries. To share information about specific point-to-point ferry journeys please add information to the “journeys” section on individual destinations to ensure it is accessed and used by the most people.
