Jump-on jump-off or JO JO bus is a name given to backpackers bus services which operate in various parts of the world. Travellers normally buy a bus pass or a sometimes a set number of journeys which allows them to complete their planned route. These services are particularly popular as they are a great way to meet other travellers and make friends. As the services are aimed directly at travellers rather than locals the buses tend to follow routes that are popular with international travellers and will often opt for more scenic and attractive routes (and stopping points) rather than simply looking for the cheapest way to get from A to B.

Jump On Jump Off
The great thing about all of these passes is that they give you incredible flexibility, you can spend as much or as little time as you like at each stop. Travellers will often have anything up to six months to compete their journey.
A Jo Jo bus pass is a great compromise for someone who wants to travel independently without doing a tour but still wants a little bit of a support network. Most companies have a guide on the bus, while they are certainly not a tour guide and are unlikely to show you around town, they will help you to organise accommodation at each stop (if you want help) and point you in the right direction for all the best things to see and do.
