Guide to Banjul

map
Located in Gambia, and its capital, the city of Banjul is located on St Mary's island, at the confluence of the Gambia river and the Atlantic Sea. It has a total population of 35,000 people, and the city is known for its warm climate, as well as its tourist areas of Fajara, Kotu, Serrekunda and Bakau, which are popular with package holidaymakers. As well as having its own international airport, the city has several museums as well as its exemplary sandy beaches. For truly hardcore travellers, the Plymouth-Banjul challenge might sound appealing, which involves driving a cheap banger all the way to Banjul from Plymouth!
