Stretching along the north African countries of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, the Atlas mountains are known for the rare and endangered species which inhabit their slopes, the incredible trekking conditions they offer travellers all year round and the unique Berber villages which dapple the area. Don't miss Toubkal, a 13,600ft peak which can be attempted alone by experienced mountaineers, or with a guide if needed. It can also be attempted by non-specialist climbers in summer months, making it a great hike for intermediates.
