Guide to John Obey

map

John Obey is located on another of those fabulous Sierra Leone beaches that get international visitors so excited. This charming fishing village has a warm and welcoming community which was put on the map by the recent arrival of eco-tourism project Tribe Wanted. John Obey is hosting the second Tribe Wanted project; the first in Fiji was the subject of a BBC documentary series.

Any visitor to Sierra Leone would do well to consider spending some time in John Obey. It is rare anywhere in the world to get the chance to meet and interact with local people in such a natural way. This is also a fabulous place to relax, unwind and recharge the batteries. Tribe Manager Daniel is also a qualified tour guide so with his help John Obey is a good start point for a wider exploration of the country.

Local Transport

Shared taxi into the nearest town of Tombo should only be a couple of thousand leones although you will be looking at quite a bit more to charter a car.
