Tiwai Island is Sierra Leone’s first community conservation project. This island in the Moa River has an area of just 12km, yet is home to an astonishing 11 species of primate. Animals you will see at Tiwai include the endangered colobus monkeys and Diana monkeys, wild chimpanzees, the rare pygmy hippo and a huge diversity of bird life. This place is a wildlife enthusaists dream and is well worth the significant effort involved in getting here.
