In Tanzania, around 180 kilometres to the west of Arusha lies the Ngorogoro National Park, a conservation area and UNESCO World Heritage Site which spans over 8,000 square kilometres. It predominantly comprises the sunken crater of an ancient volcano, which is home to many species of African wildlife, including lions, hippos and flamingos. As well as the usual safari adventures, make time to arrange a crater rim walk with a ranger.
