Guide to Zanzibar

map
An archipelago forming part of Tanzania, Zanzibar is located in the Indian Ocean, and is approximately 108 kilometres long, and surrounded by Coral Reefs. Its capital is Stone Town, and the entire island's population is over 362,000 inhabitants. As well as being an important spot on the Spice Trade, the place is rich in spices like saffron and ginger. Stone town is a World Heritage Site, and is the perfect place to pick up unique souvenirs. Learn something of the island's darker history - the Slave Market is a chilling reminder, or gape at the Red Colobus Monkeys that dangle from the treetops of the Jozani Forest.
