Guide to Goa

map
India's smallest state, Goa, lies on the country's western coast, covering an area of 3,720 kilometres and rising from the coast into the western Ghat Mountains, irrigated by the rivers Mandovi, Zuari, Terekhol and Sal. It has a population of around 1.4 million people, and is known as a tourist destination for its beaches, churches and as a former hippy retreat. Its capital is Panaji. Don't miss Anjura Beach, home to the beautiful Albuquerque Mansion, along with various flea and night markets.
