Guide to Mumbai

map
Once known as Bombay, the richest city in India, and its most populous city, Mumbai lies on the country's western coastline, and is divided between the City and Suburban districts. On the mouth of the Ulhvas River, Mumbai looks out to the Adriatic Sea, and occupies an area of land known as Salsette Island, making it a historically important port. Well known as home to the Bollywood film industry, as well as the National Congress, Mumbai has a diverse architecture dominated by the Gothic Revival style. Don't miss the idyllic sunsets to be glimpsed from Marine Drive, or the incredible atmosphere of the temple of Shree Siddhivinayak.
