Guide to Hiroshima

map
The largest city in the Chugoku region of Western Honshu, and built on the Ota River Delta, Hiroshima has a total population of 1,100,000 million inhabitants, and is divided into eight wards. It's known as the first city to be destroyed by a nuclear weapon, towards the end of the World War II. Today Hiroshima is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city. Visit the Peace Memorial Park which can be wandered through any time of day or night, for a poignant reminder of the H-Bomb attack. It's also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don't miss the Hiroshima Castle, rebuilt after the bombing and set in beautiful parkland dappled with over 350 cherry blossom trees.
