Located on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, and surrounded by the Yellow and East Seas, South Korea comprises mountain ranges, plains near its coastline, river basins, and rolling hillscapes. It also has a total of 20 national parks. There are nearly 50 million people living in South Korea, with 23 million living in and around the metro area of its capital, Seoul. The cities of Gyeongju and Buyeo are also significant ancient capitals of the country. Don't miss the cultural sites of Gyeongju, or the natural wonders of Juju Island.
