Just over 772 kilometres from Sydney, the town of Byron Bay lies close to Australia's easternmost point. It has a total population of 4,900 people, though it welcomes over 1.7 million visitors every year, due to its famous beaches, whale watching and surfing spots. Don't forget to walk to the Byron Bay lighthouse, and have a drink in its cafe when you get to the top of the headland!
