In New South Wales, Australia, the region of Hunter Valley lies approximately 120 kilometres to the north of Sydney, and has total population of 645,000 people. The majority of its population live in the cities of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, and the region surrounds the Hunter River. Other towns in the area include Dungog, Gloucester, Kurri Kurri and Scone. It's a huge attraction for tourists, with the Hunter Valley Steam Trains which run every Sunday, and the scenic Lake Macquarie. Don't miss the regions wineries, organise a tour and spend the day quaffing a good vintage!
