There are plenty of bars in Melbourne’s CBD, although not all are easy to find. The trendiest bars in town often pride themselves on being hard to find, so going out with a local in tow is always a good idea. Just be careful to pay attention to where you are, otherwise you will be forever trying to work out how you ended up in a rooftop bar where all the bar staff are dressed for a game of tennis… I never found my way back there! Every suburb has its own drinking dens though so don’t restrict yourself to the centre. The trendy suburb of St Kilda has some great bars (and the infamous backpacker bar the Elephant and Wheelbarrow which hosts Neighbours nights.)
