On the southern coastline of Australia lies the small town of Port Fairy. It is located around 290 kilometres from Melbourne, and is a former whaling station, on the Moyne River. It has a population of just under 2,600 people, and is reliant on tourism and fishing for its economy. Port Fairy is home to a golf course, the Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Moyneyana Festival over the festive period. Don't miss the Annual Sausage Dog Race, a quirky event which livens up the town every June.
