With a population of 44,000 people the city of Port Macquarie is located around 390 kilometres to the north of Sydney on the northern coastline of New South Wales. At the mouth of the Hastings River, the city was the first convict settlement out with Sydney. There are several beaches dappled around the city, including the surf-friendly Flynns Beach, the central Town beach which is great for strong swimmers and close to a skate park. Visit the Kooloonbung Nature Park for a chance to see flying foxes and koalas!
