Guide to Rotorua

map
On New Zealand's North Island, in the Bay of Plenty Region, lies the city of Rotorua. It's a place of volcanic activity, which is where is gets most of its tourist appeal, as well as thermal springs and geysers, there's the buried village of Te Wairoa. It smells a little like rotten eggs for the sulphurous bubblings beneath its surface, but this fails to deter its 68,000 or so inhabitants. Don't miss the fantastic natural scenery of Sulphur Bay, the nearby Volcanic Valley and the Thermal Village. For something a little less volcanic, the Agrodome is a quaint glimpse at New Zealand's farming heritage.
