Guide to George Town

map
Located on the northern coastline of Tanzania, George Town is one of the country's larger towns, with a population of 4,266 people. It lies on the Tamar River, and is close to the small hamlet of Low Head. It's well known as being one of the first places in Australia to be settled by Europeans. Popular with tourists for its seaside location and fishing, don't miss the Targa Tasmania rally, a six day motoring event which was formerly held in Sicily.
