300km southwest of Mexico City, the beach resort of Acapulco glimmers on the crescent sands of Mexico's Pacific Coast. Becoming famous in the 1950s among millionaires and celebrities, the city now has a population of around 863,000 residents, and is known for its high-rise condos and sizzling climate. Eat some red snapper fish on Barra Vieja Beach, then check out the pentagon shaped fortress of El Fuerte de San Diego.
