Built by the Mayans, this pre-Columbian archaeological site is in Tinum, in the south easternmost tip of Mexico, around 100 miles from Cancun. Dating as far back as 600 AD, the site is most famously characterised by the Pyramid of Kukulcan, but is littered with signs of former civilisation, including an interior temple, the Platform of the Kkulls and the observatory of El Caracol. Don't miss the nearby Yaxin Spa, which offers traditional Mayan beauty treatments.
