With a population of 1.8 million inhabitants, Minsk is the largest city in Belarus, and its capital. It lies in the centre of the country, is riven by the Svislach and Niamiha rivers and surrounded by forest. It was regenerated in the 195s after it suffered significant damage during World War II. The city is well linked to popular ski resorts such as Silichy and Lagoisk. Grab some Kefir - a local drink made from fermented milk, and hit the ice rink for some wintry excitement.
