The picturesque coastal city of Porec is located on the Istrian Peninsula about an hour’s drive north of Pula. With great beaches and a vibrant nightlife Porec holidays are a popular option with package holiday firms. Beyond the sea and sand though there are a number of historical treasures to be explored, the most famous of which is the Euphrasian Basilica. Built by the emperor Justinian in the 6th Century the basilica features on the UNESCO world heritage list and hosts concerts throughout the summer season. The city reached its peak under the Byzantine emperor and the bishops palace also dates from the 6th century. From the 5th to the 7th of August 2011 Porec will be hosting the annual Street Art Festival.
