In the north of Europe, bordering Germany to the south and otherwise surrounded by sea, Denmark comprises the peninsula of Jutland, as well as 443 islands, with 72 in total inhabited. Many of these are connected by bridges, and the country itself is connected to Sweden by the Oresund Bridge. Denmark has a total population of 5.6 million people, and its capital and largest city, is Copenhagen. It’s also has two constituent countries, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland, otherwise known as the Danish realm. Denmark is known for its progressive politics, strong welfare system and beautiful architecture.
