Estonia lies to the North of Europe, and is bordered by the countries of Latvia, Russia, and the eastern shoreline of the Baltic Sea. Estonia has almost 1500 islands breaking off from its coast, is pitted with meteorite craters and over 1400 lakes. Estonia has a total population of 1.3 million inhabitants, and its principal city and capital is Tallinn, which lies to the northern coastline of the country. Estonia has a cold climate, and short summers, but since it joined the European Union, its rapidly becoming a popular destination among tourists.
