Lying in the foothills of the Pyrenees, the market town of Lourdes has a population of around 15,000 people, and it is located just to the north of the Spanish border. Surrounded by the summits of Aneto, Montaigu and Vignemale, the town is riven by the Gave de Pau River. It's well known as a centre of Marian Pilgrimage, with its grottos and churches drawing thousands of catholic visitors every year. Attend the candlelit procession which gathers nightly in front of the Basilica for an atmospheric experience.
