Close to the town of Moutiers, in the Tarantaise Valley of the Alps lies the ski resort of Meribel, comprising the three villages of Meribel Centre, Meribel-Mottaret and Meribel Village, all three forming part of the Trois Vallees ski system. It's well known as one of the larger resorts, and was home to the 2002 Winter Olympics. With access to over 130 km of cross country skiing and 180 lifts, it's a fantastic place for snow sports lovers, though there are also cinemas, an ice rink and a bowling alley.
