Guide to Rouen

map
Normandy's historic capital, Rouen, lies to the north of France, on the River Seine, around 135 kilometres from Paris. It has a total population of 110,000 in the city areas. Rouen is known for its astonishing Notre Dame Cathedral, a building which was muse to the painter Monet, and also as the place Joan of Arc was burned at the stake. Also check out the birthplace of writer Gustave Flaubert, and the Big Clock in the middle of the Rue de Gros Horloge.
