Frankfurt’s old town (Romergerg) was faithfully reconstructed after being completely destroyed during World War Two, the highlight of this district is central Romer Square. To see the ‘real old Frankfurt instead head to Bornheim where many of the medieval houses made it through the war intact. It's also a very happening suburb with numerous cafes and restaurants, a market and traditional cider taverns (or Ebbelwoi).
Take a walk along the river bank as many Frankfurters tend to do on a sunny day. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants to quench your thirst, or if you are walking in the Sachsenhausen, maybe head away from the river for a cider. Frankfurt is also known for its city forest, another nice spot for a stroll.
