On the spot here today the Frauendom (Munich`s cathedral) the world-famous symbol of Munich now stands, the new Augustinian monastery was completed in 1328. At the same time the chimney of the monastery's brewery was also billowing smoke. The beer brewea by the Augustinians was already famous and sought. Today, 670 years later, the name Augustiner still stands for the oldest of all existing Munich breweries and the Munich beer culture as a whole.
