With a population of over 600,000 people, Stuttgart is the sixth largest city in Germany, and lies to the south central region of the country, around an hour from the Black Forest and near to the River Necker. Stuttgart is surrounded by smaller towns, and is well known for its connections to the automotive industry, being home to Porsche and Mercedes Benz headquarters. Visitors should visit at least one of their museums for a glimpse of what the city's about, but there are plenty of other sites to keep tourists occupied including the Planetarium, Zoo and Weindorf, a huge wine festivel every September.
