Guide to Thessaloniki

map
On the northern shores of the Thermaic Gulf, looking out to the wondrous peaks of Mount Olympus, the city of Thessalonika is the second largest in Greek, and also capital of the Central Macedonian Region. It has a population of 111,000 inhabitants in its urban areas, and its Byzantine monuments are recognised by UNESCO as worthy of World Heritage Status. Visit the crumbling ancient walls in the northern town, or be part of something young and vibrant at the city's international film festival in November.
