Northern Ireland's capital and largest city, Belfast has a total population of 267,000 people, and is surrounded by hills. It lies on the mouth of the River Lough, on the eastern coastline of the country, and was once known as the shipbuilding centre of the world. Today, Belfast is a place of cultural comingling, and full of character. Walk down the Royal Avenue to Saint Anne's Cathedral, take a boat tour around the site of the Titanic's construction, and if you appreciate a good pint, head to the Crown Liquor Saloon, one of the most beautiful pubs in Northern Ireland.
