Guide to Agrigento

map
Once a leading urbanisation in the times of the Greek Empire, the city of Agrigento lies on the southernmost coastline of Sicily. Founded on the banks of the Hypsas and the Akragas rivers, Agrigento looks out over the Mediterranean Sea, and has a total population of 59,000 people. It's famous for its Greek archaeology; the Valley of Temples is Agrigento's hotspot for tourists. Don't miss the Archaeological Museum for a chance to make sense of all the sights.
