At a total length of 51 kilometres and a width of 16.7, Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, and shares its shoreline with the provinces of Verona, Brescia and Trentino. Surrounded by a dramatic mountain landscape, the area is very popular with tourists, with the north attracting those who prefer quiet, scenic holidays and the south more enticing for those seeking adventure. The lake even has its own airport. Head to the small medieval town of Malcesine to explore its castle or visit the resort town of Torbole for some incredible windsurfing on the lake's northern shores.
