Guide to Pisa

map

The aptly named 'Field of Miracles' is home to Pisa's most famous site, the leaning tower. Also here is the cathedral, and the fascinating structure of the Battistero (the Baptistery.) The best photos of the leaning tower are to be had from the top of the Baptistery and the interesting shape makes for amazing acoustics so have a sing (if you can) when you are in there. A great time to visit Pisa is the Luminara which is held annually on the 16th of June. The River Arno is lit up with thousands of candles and the night ends with a fireworks festival.
