One of the most picturesque cities in South Holland, Delft is one of the most traditional areas in the Netherlands, with canals, medieval architecture and the eponymous ceramics it's famous for. It has a population of 96,000 people. The flat, channelled streets are best explored by bike or on foot, and popular stops include the Vermeer Centrum Delft and the New Church. Sink a cool beer at the end of the day's sightseeing in the Beestenmarkt, a lively square perfect for people watching.
