Guide to Moscow

map
Russia's capital, and most populous city, Moscow has a total population of 11 million people living in its urban areas. It lies on the banks of the Moskva River, and surrounds the Kremlin which marks its central districts. Moscow is famous for being the former capital of the Soviet Union, and some of its architecture is unique for structures like St Basil's Cathedral with its colourful domes, Red Square and the Lenin Mausoleum, where the body of Vladimir Lenin can be viewed. Don't miss the Church of the Ascension, a World Heritage Site in the Byzantine style.
