To the east of Russian, on the Golden Horn Bay lies the city of Vladivostok, a whopping 9,300 kilometres from the country's capital. It has a total population of 592,000 inhabitants, and rises to its highest altitude at Mount Kholodilinik, near the border with North Korea and China. The city is home to the country's naval fleet, and it's an important stop on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Time your visit in September to coincide with the Pacific Meridian International Film Festival.
