It would be naive to suggest that a Tenerife resort as popular as Los Cristianos has not been effected by tourism (so many people come here to enjoy the Los Cristianos weather), but unlike its purpose built neighbour Playas de las Americas the resort grow out of a small Canarian fishing village and has still retained some of its original charm. Los Cristianos has a working port with a fishing fleet so it doesn’t have that exclusively tourist feel that some in the Canaries do.
You will find the resort is generally much more sedate than its neighbour and the Los Cristianos nightlife is much more relaxed than the nightlife in Playa de las Americas. It only takes a few minutes to get between the two by taxi though, so you can easily base yourself in Los Cristianos and still have the more active nightlife if that is what you are looking for.
