Question and Answers

Q: I'm in the South of France and I'm thinking of taking a detour to the San Fermin to see the running of the bulls. No big surprise but I can't find any accommodation in Pamplona, are there any alternative places that I could stay and travel in from?

A lot of people coming to Pamplona for the running of the bulls don't actually take accommodation there. One quite popular option is to arrive there in the evening and just party all night, watch the encierro (which happens first thing in the morning) and then head out of town. It can be quite chilly in the evening though so if you are doing that make sure you bring some warm clothes. Also, it's probably not a good idea if you are planning on running with the bulls yourself, if you are doing that it's worth trying to get a decent night sleep.

You could also just arrive in town from a night bus in the early hours, watch the running of the bulls and then head out of town.

Think about San Sebastian which is around a one hour bus ride away. San Sebastian is popular in its own right at this time of year but you have a better chance of getting a room during San Fermin.
