The Real Alcazar of Seville has been described as Sevillano Alhambra and the building is certainly a contemporary of its more famous neighbour. Starting life in the 10th century as a Moorish palace, future generations of caliphs and then Christian monarchs have left their mark on this remarkable complex. Perhaps the most famous of the palaces was built by Pedro the cruel and it is certainly one of the best examples of Mudejar architecture in Andalucia. Built around 30 years later than the Nasrid Palaces of the Alhambra the similarities are both striking and interesting.
For many the highlight of the Real Alcazar is spending time in the gardens. There is no time limit on your visit to feel free to bring a book and find yourself a quiet spot to relax in their lavish surroundings.
