Guide to Cappadocia

map
In the centre of Turkey, ensphered by volcanic peaks and the towering Mount Erciyes lies the historic region of Cappadocia. The region is known for its rock formations, caves and houses carved into the landscape, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Notable towns include Goreme, a habitation with 'fairy chimneys' which have been chiselled by the elements, Nevsehir, the region's capital, and Uchisar, with its incredible castle carved into the hill. Don't forget to visit the underground cities!
