With a population that fluctuates between 30,000 and 300,000, Marmaris on Turkey's Mediterranean coastline is a well-loved tourist resort that has grown from a humble fishing village. As well as all the usual glitzy resort attractions, including dance music, bars and restaurants, the town is well situated for day trips to the nearby Icmeler and Tunmic, has two water parks and some impressively opulent yachts moored in its harbour. Don't miss some of the cheap, if fake, souvenir shopping fun, and a boat trip around the sights of its aquamarine waters, including caves, ruins and and isolated beaches.
