On Turkey's southern coast, the port of Merisin is lapped by the waters of the Mediterranean. It has a population of 982,000 people and is set to host the 2013 Mediterranean Games. Well known for its great inner city facilities including an opera house and opulent hotels, it's also host to an International Music festival. Any visitors should sample Mersin's distinctive cuisine, which includes dishes like Salgam Suyu and Cezerye.
