Guide to Canterbury

map
This famous cathedral city in the district of Kent in southeast England is rich in history and fable, home to Chaucer's famous Canterbury Tales and site of Thomas Becket's murder in 1170. Located just 55 miles from London, it's a picturesque base, and situated on the river Stour. Visit the UNESCO recognised cathedral, by all means, and don't miss a trip to the Marlow Theatre, named for Shakespeare's contemporary.
