The largest island of the Inner Hebrides, just off the western coastline of Scotland, in the North Sea, Skye has a population of around 9,000 people, and is connected to the mainland by the Skye Road Bridge. Its capital is a little port town called Portree. Its most famous group of mountains, the Cuillin, is a hotspot for climbers, while historians will be charmed by the likes of the Clan Donald centre and Dunvegan Castle.
